Celina Trowell

Celina S. Trowell, LSW is a lifelong resident of Brownsville, Brooklyn, wife, mother, and organizer at VOCAL-NY, whose passion is community service and uplift. This framework has informed her engagement in community, faith work and professional organizing by working to educate, stimulate, activate and agitate communities to challenge carceral responses and oppressive systems. Celina deeply believes in the restorative healing process of radical imagination that works to create transformative solutions for a world that historically marginalized Black communities and those of color, deserve. Celina has over a decade of experience in social, health and homelessness services. Celina proudly considers herself a life student of Black, femme, abolitionist tradition. Celina has been actively engaged in several grassroots initiatives such as Racial Justice BK, Brooklyn Justice Advocacy Coalition, and currently serves as the Chair for the volunteer, community non-profit, Ocean Hill-Brownsville Coalition of Young Professionals.
